About the artist
Semyon Somin was born in 1981 in Moscow. He got a higher art education. He studied at Sholokhov's Moscow State University, Russian State Agricultural University named after Stroganov, MHPL No. 303.
He is an active member of the Creative Union of Artists.
The artist draws his inspiration from the modern post-industrial landscape. While working on the paintings, he uses both hand sketches and new technologies.
The objects in the paintings are professionally processed and attention is focused on the main subjects in the author's opinion. His works are distinguished by bold color work and non-standard compositional techniques. The artist believes that the masters of the past help him in his work. He is inspired by the paintings of Mikhail Roginsky, David Shterenberg, Francis Bacon. He believes that without these masters, his works would have a different structure and content. The main material for Somin's paintings is acrylic and oil pastels, the range of additional materials is huge in his works he also uses oil paints, graffiti materials, building dyes, etc. Semyon Somin's works arouse genuine interest in the minds of modern viewers, visitors to exhibitions often leave enthusiastic comments.
